Group Overview

World Expo Projects

Entrusted by the organizers of World Expo 2010 Shanghai, China, the Group was responsible for the construction of such two permanent pavilions as Expo Center and Theme Pavilion.

Covering about 140,000 square meters, the Expo Center (with the function of convention as the mainstay) includes comprehensive functions like news releases, activities and guest receptions. The Expo Center is presently the venue for a variety of important meetings convened by CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, the municipal People’s Congress, the municipal government and the Shanghai People’s Political Consultative Conference. It is also a venue for international forums and meetings.

With a total construction area of about 150,000 square meters, the Theme Pavilion constitutes Asia’s largest exhibition building both in scope and size. During the Expo 2010, the Theme Pavilion highlighted the relations and interactions between three organic systems—the Earth, cities and human beings under the background of rapid urbanization and accelerated population growth in today’s world. After the Expo, the Theme Pavilion was renamed the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center, advancing towards the objective of “creating an internationally advanced and domestically-leading intelligent exhibition venue with industrial demonstration effects”.
